Recovery After the Victory
On May 5, 1945, the Netherlands is offically liberated from Nazi occupation. The people of the city of Nijmegen are ecstatic. In September Tina van Beek enrolls in nursing school.
Then reality sets in:
Much of the city is destroyed, thousands are killed, tens of thousands are homeless, leadership is in disorder. People mourn their losses, nurse their wounds and move to an unknown future. As the population takes stock before rebuilding, Tina van Beek copes with all of this as a student nurse in St. Bonifacius Hospital.
